Original jewelry from the Baltica collection

The Baltic Sea is a symbol of freedom and happiness for Anna Orskaya. The sea, which has attracted the designer to the sandy shore for many years, became the main character of the Baltica collection. The designer combined amber with a synthetic stone called Mare, which was created from recycled ropes and fishing nets extracted from the bottom of the Baltic Sea. The Baltica collection includes rings, earrings, bracelets, necklaces and pins. At the same time, you can find some unusual designs in it: ear cuffs with amber, which will successfully replace earrings and find their way into the closet of people who have never pierced their ears. Brooch necklaces are the author's combination of two forms, which usually decorate the neckline. They are adjustable in length, so they can be pinned in different places. Among the rings you can find a ring that is worn on three fingers, so it decorates the entire hand.

Artistic ear cuff with amber and synthetic Mare stone

The ear cuff, an ornament worn behind the ear, was handmade. We decorated the brass form to fit the shape of the ear with two round synthetic Mare stones in green and black and milky amber. Artistic jewelry will successfully replace earrings and clip-on earrings. The ear cuff, although sold individually, will look great in a set.

Oval surfaces, changed under the influence of high temperature, which resulted in a unique surface structure of folds and bands, reminiscent of a lunar landscape. A growing concern about what we will leave behind for future generations has inspired ORSKA to develop the concept of reincarnation of post-industrial plastic, which has undergone experimental treatment. As a result of this process, a synthetic stone was created, which is the heart of the New Stone collection. The lightweight black block with rainbow-like shimmer and texture reminiscent of crystallization known from natural minerals was made of processed plastic with addition of brass filings from ORSKA jewellery studio. The impressive ring was handcrafted. Raw, imperfect texture of the brass brings to mind associations with natural, rough rock surfaces, which emphasizes the original character of the whole.

The natural stones were polished in a family workshop on the Vistula Spit, and then framed in a satin brass setting in the ORSKA workshop. The designer combined amber with the synthetic Mare stone, which was created from recycled ropes and fishing nets extracted from the bottom of the Baltic Sea.

What determines the color of amber?

About 60 varieties of amber are known in the world. They differ from each other in date of creation and composition, but it is useful to know the basic division due to the different colors of the raw materials.  Amber comes in all shades of brown and yellow. "Gold of the Baltic" initially takes on a light yellow color, similar to the color of fresh resin. The older the amber gets, the darker color it reaches, up to a tea color. This is the result of exposure to the sun, temperature and air. The longer the exposure to these factors, the darker the stone becomes. The most common stones are cognac, milky, green, black, yellow and red amber.

These beneficial insects, which guard our ecosystem, are at the same time outstanding engineers whose precision is not easy to match. ORSKA took up the challenge by designing openwork honeycomb-inspired jewellery components. To the upper element of the satin gloss earrings, a second, larger element polished to high gloss was suspended. Geometric form and contrasting textures impart a sense of lightness and elegance to the earrings.

ORSKA juxtaposed amber with a synthetic stone created from abandoned fishing nets and ropes fished from the bottom of the Baltic Sea by the Mare Foundation and KGPR. The stone, created in a handmade process by the Boomplastic group, shimmers in shades of deep green, which contrasts with the honey-gold color of the amber. Thanks to the combination of two seemingly mismatched stones, the jewelry in the Baltica collection is not just an ornament. It is a manifesto: there is an important message behind the form.

The ring was made by hand. ORSKA juxtaposed two honey ambers: one convex, the other flat; with two stones made of Mare material in green and black-green. The ring is worn on three fingers, so that the original design decorates the entire hand and effectively attracts attention. The long necklace was created using an element that Anna Orska designed during her trip to Vietnam.
