Traditional Vietnamese lacquering technique dates back to six thousand years ago. It consists of repeated application of colourful plant resin on a wooden base. Each layer needs time to dry and harden first and each one should be polished. Repeated activities make up the cycle, which can last even several weeks. The jewellery designed and made during the expedition of Anna Orska to Vietnam is adorned with motifs of both asymmetrically winding, wild nature as well as its graphic, almost architectural face. The designer confronted natural coincidence with minimalist order, adding strong accents of mother-of-pearl ornaments blended into juicy red and tarry black lacquer with a high gloss. Limited edition jewellery from VIETNAM collection framed in silver and complemented by sea pearls from Ha Long Bay is a reinterpretation of centuries-old craftsmanship technique outfitted in contemporary, unconventional design.
