The light of Morocco – traditional craftsmanship with lace precision

The travel stories of Anna Orska are constantly expanding with new chapters. The latest one she wrote in the delightful colors and scents of Marrakech. It took her as many as five trips to explore the secrets of local crafts. Among the very interesting offerings, she was most impressed by the artistic metalwork workshops, where lamps with intricate openwork structures are created. Anna Orska decided to translate this non-jewelry craft into the language of jewelry.

Long chain necklace with ball pendant

The long necklace was handmade from brass. The chain with large links was decorated with a round, three-dimensional pendant, which was created in one of the local workshops in Marrakech. The floral pattern was inspired by Moroccan lamps, which are richly decorated with flowers, leaves or finely intertwined vines. The masters cut intricate ornaments, giving the whole an openwork structure. Wanting to emphasize the play of light and shadow, in the ORSKA workshop the jewelry was oxidized, which gave it an original graphite color. The pendant was decorated with blue zirconia set in a brass frame of contrasting gold color. In addition, a teardrop-shaped zirconia was suspended from the end of the chain. Thanks to a long extension, the necklace can be worn at any length. The skillful combination of accents in different colors makes the necklace in a traditionally Moroccan style stand out with a modern twist characteristic to the ORSKA brand.

The eclecticism of Morocco encourages experimentation with its design. Moroccan earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings are bold enough to be worn as sole accessories to everyday outfits, such as a basic dress or even a white t-shirt.
