Craftsmanship of the World: The Kembali Jewelry Collection Created by Local Masters

Anna Orska regularly travels in search of rare crafts, techniques, and materials. During these design expeditions, she visits workshops around the world and collaborates with local artisans to create jewelry collections that pay tribute to their masterful skills and cultural heritage. The designer first visited Bali eight years ago and returned to see how much has changed. The Kembali collection remains faithful to Balinese artisanal traditions, drawing inspiration from the island’s nature, rituals, and symbolism.

Snake Necklace in Rosewood and Oxidized Silver

This long, snake-shaped necklace was hand-carved by Balinese artisans from dark rosewood. Each detail is the result of meticulous craftsmanship, taking anywhere from several hours to over a dozen to complete. The carved wooden “beads” were then sent to the ORSKA workshop, where they were combined with faceted gemstones and silver elements. The oxidized silver adds depth and character, emphasizing the necklace’s raw, artisanal aesthetic. The clasp is adorned with an engraved plaque that reads "Limited Edition" and features the ORSKA logo. One of the most striking details is the snake’s head, carefully sculpted with distinct features such as eyes and an open mouth with a silver tongue.

This long necklace can be worn in multiple ways: traditionally in a single strand, doubled for a layered look, or as a lariat-style necklace. It pairs beautifully with loose shirts, simple turtlenecks, and evening dresses. For a bold styling choice, it can also be draped elegantly down the back, adding a touch of intrigue to any outfit.

The Symbolism of the Snake in the Kembali Collection

From delicate floral earrings to bold silver rings and intricately carved bracelets, the snake is not only the centerpiece of this necklace but also a unifying motif across the entire Kembali collection. In Indonesian culture, the Ode (snake) is a powerful and positive symbol. It represents transformation and rebirth, reminding us to let go of what no longer serves us to make space for the new. In European traditions, the snake is also associated with wisdom, healing, and inner strength.
