Old plastic, New Stone - the jewelry collection with the stone of the future
The New Stone artistic jewelry collection was born out of a reflection on the state in which we want to leave the planet to our successors. For the sake of the Earth's future, the production of the new can be replaced by processing what is already available. Because what do we have in excess? The answer is simple: waste. So if we want to make a real difference, we should focus our attention on seemingly inconspicuous raw materials. In line with this idea, the synthetic New Stone gem was created. Although small in size, it can inspire others to create boldly. Post-industrial plastic along with silver filings (leftovers from metal processing at ORSKA) was subjected to experimental processing, resulting in a distinctive dark stone with shiny particles. All this to give this material a unique second life.
Ring with an irregular stone
The ring was created by hand from silver in the ORSKA workshop. The thin ring was made using the technique of casting from silver, so its form is reminiscent of the waters of the seas and oceans, where unnecessary plastic all too often finds its way. The ring is crowned with a magnificent future stone in an irregular silver setting. The texture of the stone is full of creases, making it resemble the natural surface of a rock. The black gem was created from post-industrial plastic, which was experimentally processed along with silver filings.
New Stone gems are handmade and may vary slightly in appearance in each ring.
Upcycling and recycling in the world of jewelry
Designer Anna Orska often gives unobvious and forgotten materials a second, better life. In line with the idea of upcycling, she turned more than just post-industrial plastic into an object of desire! Similarly, in jewelry from the Baltica collection she juxtaposed natural amber with a synthetic stone made from fishing nets found at the bottom of the Baltic Sea. Or she turned leather scraps from handbag production into small works of art: hand-tattooed necklaces, bracelets and earrings. In this way, jewelry is not only a beautiful decoration, but also a symbol of environmental responsibility.
