Sello. Message written in amber
When there were no bottles and letters could not be sent in them, Mother Nature sealed her message in amber. Millions of years later, the plastic bottle itself becomes a message - and not a very optimistic one. Climate change makes us start thinking louder and louder: what kind of footprints will mankind leave behind? What will we imprint on nature? The Sello (Spanish for seal) jewelry collection is an attempt to look into the future. We turned gold-plated brass and Polish amber in the ORSKA atelier into geometric forms and modern designs. And where amber allows us to see through, we placed our stamps. As a result, attention is attracted not only to engraved plants and insects, but also... symbols of human presence on Earth.
Traces of nature, traces of the future
The original stamps are imprinted on carefully selected, partially transparent amber, just as man imprints his mark on nature. Plant-inspired inclusions and symbols of the future: nails, bottle caps and fragments of integrated circuits present a vision of the future in which homo sapiens leaves behind not beautiful nature, but a mass of infamous artifacts.
Prophecy or warning?
The Sello collection reminds us that our fate is not yet sealed. We still have a say in how our future unfolds. The handmade jewelry provokes reflection on our impact on the Earth. The traces of nature versus the traces of humanity: will they work together or cause dissonance?
