The star of the Aurora collection: tourmaline – a multicolored precious stone
Tourmalines are among the most beautiful natural gemstones. Greens, pinks, blues, purples – their rich palette of colors captivated us. When creating the Aurora collection, we used raw, authentic, and unique stones. Each piece was set in silver or gold-plated silver and then arranged like a stained glass mosaic. In this mosaic, the stones interact with each other and reflect light, creating surfaces as colorful as the Northern Lights. Tourmaline is light extracted from deep within the Earth, meant to live close to the skin. Each piece is unique – just like every aurora display is one-of-a-kind. This jewelry is for those who wish to carry a piece of nature in its wildest form and for those who can see magic in the raw and untamed.
Silver collar necklace with multicolored tourmalines
The collar was created from multicolored tourmalines arranged in a luminous band, reminiscent of the Northern Lights spread across the night sky. The stones used in this unique mosaic come from Rajasthan, where they were crafted in a small, family-run jewelry workshop. Anna Orska met the owners during one of her design trips to India. The tourmalines were not polished but cleaved, preserving their original character, raw texture, and irregular shapes. Each stone was individually set in silver, highlighting their asymmetrical forms and natural beauty. This approach distinguishes the collection, as jewelry typically uses standardized, repeatable settings. The collar is finished with an adjustable extension featuring a pendant in the ORSKA logo design, allowing the length to be customized.
In nature, no two tourmalines are identical, which makes every necklace one-of-a-kind. The stones may vary slightly in shape, size, and shade, giving each piece a unique character.
The Northern Lights captured in a stone
Tourmalines are among the few minerals that occur in almost all the colors of the aurora. Each color is believed to carry different energy and symbolism. Green tourmalines (verdelites) support balance and regeneration and are often chosen by those seeking a fresh start. Pink rubellites symbolize empathy and tenderness, making jewelry with them an excellent anniversary gift. Blue tourmalines are associated with inner peace and intuition, while amber and sand-colored dravites are believed to transform negative energy into positive thoughts. Black tourmaline – schorl – has long been considered a protective stone, accompanying those who seek peace and learn to set boundaries. Transparent achroite symbolizes purity of intention and sincerity of feelings, making jewelry with it a meaningful gift.
