Repusé jewelry from the Nepal collection

Jewelry from the Nepal collection was born from the decision to return to the place, technology, and people met years ago. The return became an opportunity to expand on this story and discover what a familiar place can reveal today, something that couldn't be seen during the first visit. The collection's repoussé elements were created in two Nepalese workshops where local artisans extracted embossed metal ornaments, leaving a unique imprint of their own hand in each. The richly decorated components were sent to our jewelry workshop, where they were transformed into earrings, necklaces, bracelets, brooches and rings. The Nepal collection is expressive, sculptural, and full of detail. Gold-plated brass gives the jewelry a warm glow, while silver-plated and oxidized alpaca gives it a deep, graphite hue that highlights the texture of the reliefs. The ornaments are complemented by natural labradorites and raw Himalayan crystals with unique facets and inclusions.

Wide, stiff necklace from the Nepal collection

The necklace from the Nepal collection is in the form of a wide, sculptural collar that encircles the neck with a distinctive band of metal. Made of profiled brass, its surface is filled with hand-repoussed spirals, vines, and plant plumes. The ornamentation extends to the edges of the necklace, which are finished with fine, rhythmic decoration. The necklace was plated with silver and then oxidized. The resulting graphite shade brings out the depth of the raised reliefs and highlights every detail of the design. A smoothly polished labradorite is set in the center of the necklace, its surface illuminating the dark metal with subtle reflections. The necklace fastens with a chain with an extension, allowing it to be adjusted to fit the circumference of the neck. A second labradorite, suspended from the end, falls gently down the back.

Each ornament was handcrafted by master repoussé craftsmen from a partner workshop in Nepal. Individual necklaces may therefore differ in the arrangement, size, and nature of the floral motifs. These subtle differences are a natural trace of craftsmanship and make each piece unique.

Labradorite - a stone of perspective shifting

Mountains foster a shift in perspective. What at the bottom can fill the entire horizon, viewed from above, becomes only a fragment of it. Proportions change, and with them, the way of thinking – new paths and solutions emerge that were previously unseen. The labradorite adorning the necklace is a stone of such change. Seemingly dark and austere, when moved, it reveals reflections of blue, green, and gold. Light appears only when the point of view changes, just as a place visited after many years can reveal a completely new story to the traveler.

Repussifying - a traditional craft from the Kathmandu Valley

One necklace, bracelet or ring. Thousands of hammer blows and as many as ten years to master the basics of this technique. Discover repoussé, a traditional Nepalese craft and the technique we used to create the Nepal collection. It requires patience, sensitivity, and a trained eye. The artisan works from the underside of a thin sheet of metal. Using a hammer and contoured punches, blow by blow, millimeter by millimeter, they push the metal out until a convex ornament emerges on the other side. Then, they turn the piece over and refine it from the front, deepening the lines, bringing out the details, and giving the design its final character. Every change in force, angle of the tool, and rhythm of the hand is imprinted in the metal. That's why no two reliefs are identical. Today, these subtle differences are luxurious proof that the jewelry has been handcrafted. In the Nepal collection, the craftsmanship of Newari masters can be seen and almost heard in every ornament.
