New paths begin where maps end - the Nepal collection

In the mountains, the higher you go, the fewer the trails there are - at some point you have to start blazing your own trails. This invitation to seek new answers, instead of following well-known paths, accompanied the designer when, after ten years, she returned to Kathmandu to create the Nepal travel jewelry collection with Nepalese artisans. Sometimes a return to the beginning is the beginning of something completely new – this is evident in each repoussé ornament, struck millimeter by millimeter by local masters. We transform individual elements on the jewelry table into original jewelry, which can serve as a talisman reminding us that above the clouds there are no beaten paths, only those we dare to chart.

Graphite Signet Ring from the Nepal Collection

The signet ring is made of silver-plated alpaca and then oxidized, giving it a distinctive graphite hue. Its face is an irregular rectangle: two corners are gently rounded, and the other two are clearly chamfered. The surface is covered with a hand-repousé ornament composed of spiral vines that grow from the center outward, intertwining with tiny leaves. Oxidizing emphasizes the three-dimensionality of the relief: the recesses remain darker, while the raised details reflect light more brightly, highlighting the precision of the craftsmanship. The distinct geometry, floral ornament, and subdued finish give the ring a unisex character. It can be worn on its own as a centerpiece or paired with a simple graphite band, an oxidized bracelet, or a labradorite bracelet.

The hand that never repeats itself twice – how are repoussé ornaments created?

During a trip to Nepal, Anna Orska saw in the metalwork workshops there the tools that artisans from the Kathmandu Valley have been using for centuries: steel punches, hammers, and chisels with various profiles. The method of creating repoussé ornaments also remains remarkably close to ancient methods. Master craftsmen shape the metal from the underside, creating a convex relief, and then refine it from the front: deepening the lines, emphasizing the contours, and perfecting the finest details. Each ornament is handcrafted, strike by strike. Only then do the repoussé pieces travel from Nepal to the ORSKA workshop, where they are given their final jewelry form. Therefore, no two pieces of this jewelry are identical. The course of the vines and the shapes of the leaves and plumes change with the movement of the hand, the force of the strike, and the angle of the tool. These subtle differences are not imperfections, but the traces of the craftsmanship, proof of the authenticity that makes each design one of a kind.
