Guatemala Collection – Two Crafts, One Story
In the heart of Guatemala, where the land breathes with the rhythm of volcanoes, two treasures are born: jade – the stone of the Mayans – and fabrics woven by the women of Chichicastenango. Both carry the memory of generations, both speak a language that has endured through centuries. Jade, hand-polished by master Stanislavo, became the heart of the minimalist jewelry in the Guatemala collection – earrings, necklaces, bracelets. The fabrics, dyed and woven using traditional methods, were transformed into limited-edition kimonos that combine minimalist forms with a kaleidoscope of colors. ORSKA’s Guatemala collection builds a bridge between the past and the present. Stone and fabric, two worlds, one narrative – about a culture alive in gesture, color, and form. This collection treats the past not as a museum but as a living heritage ready for transformation. Wearing jewelry or a kimono from this collection makes you part of a story that is continuously unfolding.
Black Kimono with White Ornaments – Contrast with a Fuchsia Accent
The kimono is made from Guatemalan fabric in an intense black, decorated with white ornaments forming a graphic, striking pattern. The fabric was dyed and woven in Chichicastenango and then brought to the Polish workshop, where it was crafted into a kimono with a minimalist, geometric form. The kimono features wide sleeves and a tie closure, allowing it to fit comfortably to the wearer’s silhouette. It is made in a universal size, fitting beautifully from S to XL. The interior features a colorful fuchsia lining, providing a surprising, energetic contrast to the black-and-white exterior and following a less-waste approach. The kimonos are limited edition, and each set includes an elegant ORSKA logo brooch made of gold-plated brass. This is not just a garment but a collectible piece. Each kimono is slightly unique – no two are exactly the same, partly due to the less-waste lining choices.
A Story Woven Without Words
The kimono made from fabrics from Chichicastenango is more than clothing. It is a story told silently – through thread, weave, and pattern. Every color carries a piece of memory: red pulses with the strength of the earth, blue soothes like water, and yellow reflects the rhythm of the sun. When these colors merge with the kimono’s calm form, a new story emerges. Ascetic lines become a frame for the kaleidoscope of Guatemalan fabrics, turning everyday life into ceremony. ORSKA’s kimono is a statement that fashion can be memory, and color a narrative of tradition and feminine strength.
How to Wear a Kimono
The kimono – a symbol of Japanese harmony and simplicity – becomes a canvas where the colorful fabrics of Chichicastenango can tell their story. The contrast between the ascetic form and rich colors creates a versatile garment that carries echoes of ceremony. Everyday minimalist outfits pair beautifully with jeans or a simple dress, adding lightness and nonchalance. In winter, the kimono can replace a warm sweater, while in spring and autumn it works as a stylish outer layer. This is the essence of “dopamine color” – bringing energy and Central American joy even in the grayest months. For those who like to stand out, bold versions appear in contrasting fuchsia, yellow, and violet shades. Add an original pin from the Guatemala collection or a striking jade necklace to the kimono to draw attention and compliments even more effectively.
