Guatemala Collection – color, tradition, and local craftsmanship
Guatemala is a journey to the heart of Central America, where time does not flow linearly, and the past intertwines with the present in the rhythm of daily life. In Guatemala, Mayan traditions continue to shape everyday life: weaving serves as a language for women, preserving the histories of places and people in intricate patterns, while jade has long been regarded as a talisman that provides strength and protection. As part of the World Crafts series, Anna Orska visited local masters to learn the secrets of weaving and jade craftsmanship, creating a collection of timeless jewelry and a limited line of kimonos. In the Guatemala collection, ORSKA bridges the past with the present. Stone and fabric – two worlds, one narrative – about a culture that lives in gesture, color, and form. This collection is a living heritage of local craftsmanship ready for transformation. Wearing jewelry or a kimono from this collection, you become part of a story that is still unfolding.
Blue MAXI Kimono – a unique journey of color and tradition
This MAXI kimono was made from fabrics woven and dyed in the town of Chichicastenango in Guatemala, where every thread and weave carries the history of ancestors and local culture. The fabric, rich in shades of blue and purple interwoven with green, red, and yellow stripes, was transformed in a Polish studio into a modern, geometric kimono. The brown lining, created in the spirit of less-waste, emphasizes attention to detail and respect for the material. The universal size fits silhouettes from S to XL, and the belt allows for individual tying and shaping of the garment. The kimono comes with an elegant pin made of gold-plated brass with the ORSKA logo.
Colorful fabrics from Guatemala – kimonos full of history
Kimonos inspired by the town of Chichicastenango combine tradition and modernity: natural fabrics, hand-dyeing, and geometric cuts. Each kimono is not just a garment but also a story – about the strength of women’s work, a culture that speaks in color, and fashion as a conscious choice.
How to wear a MAXI Kimono – the art of everyday ceremony
The kimono – a symbol of Japanese harmony and simplicity – becomes a canvas on which the colorful fabrics of Chichicastenango can tell their story. The contrast of an ascetic form and rich color creates a universal garment that carries echoes of ceremony. In everyday life, minimalist styles pair beautifully with jeans or a simple dress, adding lightness and casual elegance. In winter, the kimono can replace a warm sweater, while in spring and autumn, it works as a stylish outer layer. This is the essence of dopamine color – bringing energy and Central American joy even in the grayest months. For those who like to go against the flow, bold options in contrasting shades of fuchsia, yellow, and purple were created. Simply add an original pin from the Guatemala collection or a statement jade necklace to the kimono to draw attention and compliments even more effectively.
