Plantis – a jewelry collection in the form of insects

The world of insects is a vibrant kingdom where every species – from the tiny ant to the majestic beetle – plays an irreplaceable role in the ecosystem. Thanks to them, plants are pollinated, soil is enriched, and the natural world can thrive. Though often overlooked, without their silent labor, nature simply couldn’t function. The Plantis collection was created to give them a voice and draw attention to their beauty. The pins and earrings in the shape of insects capture the finest details. Tiny parts of grasshoppers, cockchafers, and ladybugs are recreated using glossy, painted metal. Jewelers at the ORSKA workshop hand-assembled these insect forms to create a jewelry line that embodies the rich diversity of the kingdom of dragonflies, moths, and other insects.

Stag beetle-shaped pin from the Plantis collection

This pin pays tribute to one of the most impressive insects – the stag beetle. The distinguishing feature of this beetle is the oversized mandibles of the male, resembling a deer’s antlers. These were recreated from brass sheet and painted in a metallic silver hue. The same shade appears on the insect’s carapace, while the legs and tip of the body were additionally gold-plated, giving them a lasting and lustrous finish. The insect’s body was carefully assembled by hand and joined using precise gold-toned watchmaker screws. These screws serve not only to hold the construction together but also act as shimmering embellishments along the edges of the carapace. The stag beetle pin is equipped with a sturdy clasp, allowing it to be securely worn on a jacket lapel or a dress.

A symbol of strength from the insect kingdom

The stag beetle is not only a striking insect but also a symbol of strength. Adult beetles can reach up to 8 cm in length, making them the largest beetles found in Poland. A pin in the shape of a stag beetle is a symbolic gift - a reminder that we all carry an inner strength to overcome challenges. This beetle has fascinated not only entomologists for centuries but also artists. Its unusual form has made it a frequent subject in art. As early as the 16th century, Albrecht Dürer immortalized it in his drawing, capturing the anatomical detail with extraordinary precision.
