Above the clouds there are no beaten paths. There are only those we dare to mark.

This thought guides the story of the Nepal collection. It was there that Anna Orska 10 years ago, for the first time, she stepped outside her familiar design framework and began creative collaborations with artisans raised in a different tradition. Nepal was the beginning of a journey built on encounters, trials, and the courage to avoid repeating others' answers. Returning after many years didn't mean recreating the past. It was an opportunity to look in a new direction from the same place. This is how a collection was created, combining the designer's imagination with the experience of Nepalese masters. The repoussé metal retained the traces of their handiwork, the lotus became a symbol of transformation, and rock crystals evoked the clarity and austerity of the Himalayan peaks. The Nepal collection speaks to the idea that one's path isn't found once and for all. You have to have the courage to reinvent it again and again.

Round earrings with floral ornaments from the Nepal collection

In this pair of round earrings from the Nepal collection, the rich, repoussé decorations are the main draw. The pair's asymmetry is emphasized by two distinct patterns. One earring is covered with small, densely twisting vines, the other with larger motifs resembling leafy plumes. The twisting vines symbolize the continuity of life, development, humanity's connection with nature, and the constant cycle of rebirth. Between the spirals appear leaves resembling a lotus, which in Buddhist tradition symbolizes purity and transformation, and in the Nepal collection also a new perspective and an opening to a different direction. The elements were silver-plated and then oxidized, giving them a deep, graphite shade. At ORSKA Studio, each earring is adorned with a small labradorite nugget. The stones are placed at different heights, enhancing the asymmetrical nature of the composition. The pair is completed by comfortable oxidized silver studs.

Repussage - a decorative technique known for hundreds of years

Repussage has accompanied metalwork in the Kathmandu Valley for centuries. The Newars shape brass sheet from the bottom, striking it blow by blow, revealing a convex pattern, and then refine it from the front using steel punches and chisels. Crafts have always been passed down from father to son, for dozens of generations. In Nepalese workshops, the method of handicraft remains remarkably close to that of centuries ago. The world around us has changed, but the technique of metal carving has remained virtually the same. The patterns passed down from generation to generation are not merely decorative, but a carrier of memory – each craftsman preserves the inherited language of ornament and leaves their own mark on it.
