Repusé jewelry from the Nepal collection

Jewelry from the Nepal collection was born The decision to return to the place, technology, and people we met years ago. The return became an opportunity to expand on this story and discover what a familiar place can reveal today, something that couldn't be seen during our first visit. The collection's repoussé elements were created in two Nepalese workshops where local artisans extracted embossed metal ornaments, leaving a unique imprint of their hand in each. The richly decorated components were brought to our jewelry studio, where they were transformed into earrings, necklaces, bracelets, brooches, and rings. The Nepal collection is expressive, sculptural, and rich in detail. Gold-plated brass gives the jewelry a warm glow, while silver-plated and oxidized alpaca leather has a deep, graphite hue that highlights the texture of the reliefs. The ornamentation is complemented by natural labradorites and raw Himalayan crystals with unique facets and inclusions.

Repussé Labradorite Necklace

This wide collar necklace is crafted from silver-plated brass, then oxidized. The rigid band comfortably hugs the neck. The entire surface of the necklace is filled with hand-repussé vines, leaves, and plant plumes, creating a dense, three-dimensional relief. The graphite shade of the metal emphasizes the depth of the ornamentation – the recesses remain dark, while the raised details reflect the light more brightly. A smoothly cut labradorite is set on one side of the necklace. Its asymmetrical placement gives the composition an asymmetrical character. The seemingly dark stone reveals blue, green, and gold reflections as it moves, which is why it symbolizes a change of perspective in the Nepal collection. The necklace fastens with a chain, allowing it to be adjusted to fit the circumference of the neck. Handcrafted ornamentation gives each necklace a slightly different arrangement of floral motifs and makes it one of a kind.

Repousse - a traditional craft from the Kathmandu Valley

One necklace, bracelet, or ring. Thousands of hammer blows and as many as ten years to master the basics of this technique. Discover repoussé, a traditional Nepalese craft and the technique used to create the Nepal collection. It requires patience, sensitivity, and a trained eye. The craftsman works from the underside of a thin sheet of metal. Using a hammer and profiled punches, blow by blow, millimeter by millimeter, he pushes the metal out until a convex ornament emerges on the other side. Then he turns the piece over and refines it from the front: deepening the lines, bringing out the details, and giving the design its final character. Every change in force, the angle of the tool, and the rhythm of the hand are imprinted in the metal. Therefore, no two reliefs are identical. Today, these subtle differences are luxurious proof that the jewelry has been handcrafted. In the Nepal collection, the craftsmanship of Newari masters can be seen and almost heard in every ornament.
