The star of the Aurora collection: tourmaline, the multicolored gemstone
Tourmalines are among the most beautiful natural stones. Greens, pinks, blues, purples – we were captivated by their rich palette of colors. In creating the Aurora collection, we used raw, authentic, and unique stones. Each piece was individually set in silver or gold-plated silver and arranged like a stained-glass mosaic. In this mosaic, the stones interact with each other and reflect light, creating surfaces as colorful as the bands of the northern lights. Tourmaline is light brought up from the depths of the earth to live close to the skin. Each piece is unique - just as every aurora display is one of a kind. This jewelry is for those who wish to carry a piece of nature in its wildest form, and for those who can see the magic in what is raw and untamed.
Striking necklace with colorful tourmalines
This bold necklace was created from multicolored tourmalines arranged in luminous stripes, reminiscent of the northern lights stretched across the night sky. The stones used in this exceptional mosaic come from Rajasthan, where they were crafted in a small, family-run jewelry workshop. Anna Orska met the workshop owners during one of her design journeys to India. The tourmalines were cleaved, not polished, preserving their raw texture, natural irregular forms, and authentic character. Each stone was individually set in gold-plated silver, highlighting its asymmetrical shape and natural beauty. This approach distinguishes the collection, as jewelry design usually relies on standardized, repetitive settings. The necklace is finished with an adjustable extender and a pendant in the form of the ORSKA logo, allowing the length to be customized.
In nature, no two tourmalines are identical, making each necklace one of a kind. The stones may differ subtly in shape, size, and shade, giving each piece its unique character.
The northern lights captured in stone
Tourmalines are among the rare minerals that occur in nearly every color of the northern lights. Each color is believed to carry its own energy and symbolism. Green tourmalines (vederlites) support balance and renewal and are often chosen by those seeking a fresh start. Pink rubellites symbolize empathy and tenderness, making jewelry featuring them an ideal anniversary gift. Blue tourmalines are associated with inner peace and intuition, while amber and sandy-hued dravites are said to help transform negative energy into positive thoughts. Black tourmaline (schorl) has long been regarded as a protective stone, supporting those seeking calm and learning to set boundaries. Transparent achroite symbolizes purity of intention and sincerity of feelings, making jewelry with it a meaningful and heartfelt gift
