ORSKA's return to Bali - Travel memories in artistic jewelry

Kembali in Indonesian means return. The name of the collection encapsulates not only the name of the place where the handmade jewelry was created, but also refers to designer Anna Orska's return to the island of flowers. The artist visited Bali again after nearly eight years, but the once familiar place turned out not to be the same anymore. Many things had changed - first of all, most of the workshops that had prospered during her first trip had disappeared. Faced with the changes, the designer based her Kembali jewelry collection on unchanging things, returning to the Balinese roots: rituals, crafts and nature.

Dangle earrings with white hibiscus flowers

In creating the jewelry in the Kembali collection, we used the craft of carving, which in an almost unchanged form has been passed down in Indonesia from generation to generation. The carved components are small works of art - each was created in an individual process by Balinese masters and took up to several hours to create. From the Ubud area, the components made their way to ORSKA workshop, where they were framed in a snake-shaped form, reaching from the center of a white hibiscus to the clasp of the earring. The ornate snake-like element was made of gold-plated brass. The posts and clasps of the earrings were made of gold-plated silver.

Hibiscus has a rich meaning in Bali. As part of a religious ritual, it symbolizes purification of the soul and mind, as well as peace and balance. In Tari Baris, a traditional Balinese war dance, it is a symbol of courage used by dancers to adorn their ears. Hibiscus flowers are also commonly used at wedding ceremonies and often act as a gift to loved ones.

Balinese jewelry in modern outfits

The abundance of Balinese flora encourages one to experiment with design and boldly juxtapose different elements. Earrings from the Kembali collection look good in the company of natural, airy fabrics. But they will also be a great addition to comfy turtlenecks or thick scarves. They will form an interesting, eye-catching duo with the gold ring decorated with a rose carved in arang wood. They will also match the chain necklace with snake motifs. Gold-plated jewelry can also be successfully matched with floral jewelry from the Plantis jewelry collection or a vegan handbag from the VIVO collection in an energetic color.
