Crafts of the World - return to Nepal

The Nepal collection is a return after many years to the place where it all began. To the mountains that change the scale of things - what fills the entire horizon at the bottom turns out to be only a small fragment from above. And to the people, thanks to whom that first step became the beginning of something greater. Hand-repoussed metal, shaped by thousands of chisel strokes and patience measured in millimeters, is a tribute to a tradition that has taught us that the most interesting paths begin where the familiar ends.

Wide gold-plated wedding ring from the Nepal collection

The ring is made of gold-plated brass. It has a wide, open shape. One edge is adorned with fine repoussé ornaments, the other is smooth. The center of the ring is adorned with spiral vines and leaves embossed on the metal surface. These motifs symbolize growth, rebirth, and the bond between humanity and nature. The gold finish brings out the depth of the ornaments and reflects light. The open design allows for slight adjustments to the circumference, allowing the ring to fit your finger better and be worn comfortably all day long.

Nepalese Repoussé Technique

For centuries, the rhythm of workshops in the Kathmandu Valley has been set by the steady clatter of hammers. It is here that the Newars perfect the art of repoussé. At the heart of this technique is the precision and patience required to strike rich ornaments on the reverse of a thin sheet of metal, then refine it from the front by deepening the lines and refining the contours. Before the components for the Nepal jewelry collection reached our ORSKA workshop, where they were fashioned into necklaces, bracelets, rings, and brooches, they were crafted for hours in Nepalese villages. When you wear jewelry from this collection, you carry with you a piece of Nepalese history, a record of the long-standing learning and work of local artisans. Each piece of the same design differs from the rest by individual chisel strokes, and it is this uniqueness that characterizes jewelry from the Nepal collection.

Rings from the Nepal collection - a distinctive accent in men's styling

Wide, repoussé rings from the Nepal collection can become a starting point for creating multi-element compositions. They look best on the index or middle finger, paired with a delicate ring or geometric signet ring. To maintain balance, it's best to wear a bold ring on one hand and several more delicate models, such as those from the Verum collection, on the other. Those who prefer bolder combinations can combine gold and graphite finishes - the contrast of the metals will emphasize the contemporary character of the style. The rings also pair well with repoussé bracelets and labradorite bracelets. A wide model can be paired with a chunky cuff worn on the opposite wrist or paired with a more delicate stone bracelet, which will soften its sculptural form. In a masculine style, a graphite band creates a cohesive ensemble with a steel watch, an oxidized necklace, or a simple chain with a Himalayan crystal. A gold-plated ring, on the other hand, is best paired with a subtle necklace or bracelet in the same shade. The key is to vary the proportions: if the ring and bracelet are ornately embellished, the remaining jewelry can be more understated.
