A journey through the world's workshops began in Nepal

The first workshop on the map of crafts of the world. The first joint creation with local masters. The first collection from her travels – this is where 10 years ago Anna Orska decided to travel in search of rare techniques on all continents and create jewelry collections in collaboration with local artisans. Nepal taught us that every new path begins where the familiar ends. And that in the mountains, above the clouds, there are no beaten paths – only those we dare to forge ourselves. Years later, we return to the same place to see what else we could see there, something we couldn't see the first time. The Nepal collection is the result of this return: hand-repoussed metal, thousands of patient chisel strokes, and a story that began with a single, bold step. And it endures, despite the passage of time and many changes.

Asymmetric stud earrings from the Nepal collection

The earrings are made of gold-plated brass. The pair is asymmetrical, and each earring in the pair is a different size and has a slightly different shape. The larger earring is decorated with a floral plume ornament, while the smaller is covered with spirally arranged vines and leaves. These ornaments symbolize development and the endless cycle of rebirth. The earrings fasten with a gold-plated silver stud.

How are the repoussé ornaments created in the jewelry from the Nepal collection?

Before a craftsman from the Kathmandu Valley is able to carve an intricate ornament on his own, he spends years in the workshop. Repoussé is considered one of the most difficult metalworking techniques. The pattern is created gradually, through hundreds, sometimes thousands, of blows of hammers and chisels of various sizes, pressed into the brass from the inside, long before the decorated piece reaches the ORSKA studio and becomes a necklace, bracelet, ring, or brooch. It is this effort, invisible at first glance, that makes the jewelry from the Nepal collection a record of the work and many years of experience of artisans from the region where this craft is still alive.
