This thought guides the story of the Nepal collection. It was there that Anna Orska 10 years ago, for the first time, she stepped outside her familiar design framework and began creative collaborations with artisans raised in a different tradition. Nepal was the beginning of a journey built on encounters, trials, and the courage to avoid repeating others' answers. Returning after many years didn't mean recreating the past. It was an opportunity to look in a new direction from the same place. This is how a collection was created, combining the designer's imagination with the experience of Nepalese masters. The repoussé metal retained the traces of their handiwork, the lotus became a symbol of transformation, and rock crystals evoked the clarity and austerity of the Himalayan peaks. The Nepal collection speaks to the idea that one's path isn't found once and for all. You have to have the courage to redefine it over and over again.

Wide bracelet - cuff from the Nepal collection

The bracelet was made in Nepal of brass. The wide cuff has a geometric, slightly wavy shape. Its upper edge is subtly curved inward. The surface of the metal is filled with spirally arranged vines and plant plumes - the result of many hours of work by craftsmen from a workshop in the Kathmandu Valley. The Newars have been perfecting the art of repoussé for centuries: shaping thin sheet metal from the reverse side, strike after strike, extracting convex ornaments and expressive textures from the metal. And once the design takes shape, they spend hours refining it from the front: deepening the lines and refining the contours, giving it its final character.

From Nepal, the intricate reliefs were brought to the ORSKA studio. The jewelers coated the bracelet with a layer of silver and then oxidized it. This process gave it a distinctive graphite hue, which highlights the relief of the handmade ornaments. Next, they embellished the floral motifs with smoothly cut labradorites. The seemingly gray stones reveal blue, green, and gold reflections when touched. The bracelet is secured from slipping off the wrist by a chain with a clasp, ending with a pendant with the ORSKA logo.

Each piece is made entirely by hand, so individual bracelets may differ in the arrangement and size of the vines and the degree of twisting of the plant spirals. These differences are a symbolic fingerprint of the craftsman, a record of his style.

How are the plant ornaments in the jewelry from the Nepal collection created?

In Nepal, histories are written down with the help of intricate ornaments. The vines that wind across the surface of the necklaces, bracelets, and earrings from the Nepal collection, known in local tradition as "lata-petra" (leaf and vine), symbolize the continuity of life, growth, and the uninterrupted cycle of rebirth. The compositions are often complemented by lotus leaves—a symbol of purity and rebirth. The artisan who creates such a pattern doesn't create it from scratch, but works within the language of symbols developed by their predecessors, preserving its meaning while simultaneously leaving the imprint of their own hand. Before the finished piece reaches our ORSKA studio, it is completely covered with intricate plant embossing. These embellishments are the heart of the Nepal collection.
