Minakari – the art of patience
Anna Orska has been traveling the world for years, searching for places where craftsmanship still tells stories. She reaches places where tradition intertwines with everyday life, and the hands of masters pass down knowledge from generation to generation. And she finds inspiration that later shapes her designs. One such journey took her to Rajasthan, to the vibrant, small workshops of Jaipur, where she learned minakari, an ancient Persian technique of decorating metal with colored enamel. It was developed and perfected in India. Today, it is much more than a jewelry method. It's a language of symbols, a form of spiritual expression, and a way of narrating the world where the elements of fire and earth meet. The name "minakari" comes from the Persian words "mina" (sky) and "kari" (work), creating a poetic expression for "sky-colored work." Artisans traditionally decorate minakari on only one side—the side worn closest to the body. They create for the heart, not the eyes, believing that what's hidden is as important as what's visible. Our interpretation of this tradition is double-sided jewelry that allows you to express yourself in many ways. You can choose between subdued and colorful, subtle or expressive—depending on your mood, emotions, and who you want to be that day.
Asymmetric earrings with colorful pendants
These dangling earrings are made of gold-plated silver and designed with a light, geometric form. The upper part is a triangular element with a stud, to which are attached round pendants made of traditional Indian kundan glass in shades of green and blue. The central, elongated element ends with a decorative pendant adorned with plant motifs in colorful enamel. The ornaments are visible from all sides, making the earrings look impressive from every perspective. Asymmetrical details give them an artistic, unique character.
The Symbolism of Plant Ornaments in Minakari Jewelry
The jewelry collection retains the symbolism of patterns and colors, drawing directly from nature, which has been a map of the world for artisans for centuries. The long, asymmetric earrings incorporate motifs of leaves and vines, a lotus, and the symbolic colors of green and blue, creating a coherent story of connection, growth, and inner harmony. The intertwining plants symbolize relationships that mature over time and a deep connection with nature and oneself. The lotus, known as the flower of the soul, reminds us of the power of rebirth and the beauty born from silence. Green brings life energy, balance, and hope, while blue brings peace, protection, and spiritual stability.
