Minakari Jewelry Collection - Crafts of the World
For years, Anna Orska has been searching for unique crafts, characteristic of various corners of the world, passed down from generation to generation, authentic. This time, her journey took her to Rajasthan, a region of India known for the art of decorating metal with colorful mineral enamels. The collection's name comes from the ancient Persian technique of minakari, which in India has been more than just a decorative method for centuries - it is a language of symbols, a form of spiritual expression, and a way of telling the world without words. Minakari requires not only technical skill but also incredible patience and surgical precision. The jewelry from this collection is double-sided, reflecting the Indian idea that true beauty seeks no praise but matures in silence. You can freely flip the sides – you choose what to show the world and what to keep for yourself!
Gold-plated necklace with double-sided pendant
This delicate necklace on a gold-plated chain features a pendant, the upper part of which is shaped into decorative ornaments. The pendant is double-sided, allowing you to choose which side is the obverse and which is the reverse. The sides are created in contrasting colors. One is subtle, subdued, and elegant – covered with black enamel, from which Indian artisans created a lotus flower. The other is much more colorful. In the center is a marigold flower, surrounded by colorful floral embellishments in blue and green. For added contrast, this side of the pendant is partially gold-plated, giving it a warm glow. The necklace has an additional extension allowing for adjustable length.
Flowers That Hold Power - The Symbolism of Lotus and Marigold
In Indian culture, flowers carry rich symbolism and have accompanied rituals, ceremonies, and everyday spiritual practices for centuries. The lotus, called Kamal, symbolizes purity, rebirth, and spiritual enlightenment. It rises from the murky depths to bloom on the surface of the water in pristine form, becoming a metaphor for transformation and inner strength. It is called the flower of the soul and is often associated with divine feminine energy and peace. Marigolds, known as Genda, are considered flowers of joy, celebration, and positive energy. They accompany festivals, ceremonies, and everyday rituals, symbolizing light, warmth, and spiritual protection. You can wear a necklace with these motifs as a personal talisman – the lotus side when you need peace and balance, or the marigold side when you want to attract joy and positive energy for a new day.
How are precise Minakari patterns created?
Creating jewelry using the Minakari technique is a complex, multi-stage process. First, a pattern is hand-engraved on the silver, defining the outline of the future piece. Then, it is filled with mineral enamel and fired repeatedly in a kiln. Each layer of color requires a separate setting. This creates subtle color transitions and a depth effect that makes the patterns "come alive" in the light. Although it resembles delicate painting, Minakari requires complete concentration and almost surgical precision.
