Minakari Collection - you decide what you show
In India, they say that true beauty doesn't grow for show, but matures in hiding. That's why in traditional minakari jewelry, the richest elements were often invisible. The Minakari Collection draws on the same philosophy. Each element, created using the ancient technique of enameling engraved silver, has two faces. You can reverse and reveal what is intimate, almost secret, depending on your mood, day, situation, or level of courage. You decide where the line is drawn.
Delicate gold-plated necklace with a double-sided pendant
This necklace, on a delicate chain, is made of gold-plated silver. Its central element is a double-sided pendant, richly embellished with mineral enamel. One side depicts a black marigold flower against a silver background, creating an elegant, subdued composition. On the reverse, an intensely blue clitoria flower, framed by green enamel, gives the piece a distinctive, fresh character. Decorative ornamentation also adorns the edges of the pendant – black vines are painted on the gold-plated surface, entwining the form as a symbol of lasting, everlasting bonds.
Symbolism of marigold and clitoria
In Indian culture, flowers play an important symbolic role and are present in rituals, ceremonies, and everyday spiritual practices. Marigolds, known as Genda, are considered flowers of joy, celebration, and positive energy. They accompany festivals and celebrations, symbolizing light, warmth, and spiritual protection. Their presence in rituals reminds us of the importance of gratitude and joy in everyday life. Clitoria, known in India as Aparajita—"she who cannot be defeated"—delights with its intense blue color. It symbolizes inner peace and spiritual depth. In Hindu tradition, it is offered to deities as an expression of respect and devotion. It represents strength, perseverance, and the ability to overcome life's challenges, being a flower of transformation and spiritual growth. Thanks to this rich symbolism, a necklace with a marigold and clitoria motif can become a unique gift, reminding us of joy, harmony, and inner strength.
How is minakari made?
Minakari is created in a multi-stage, handmade process that requires the precision and experience of the artisan. First, a design is engraved onto the metal surface, which is then filled with mineral enamel. Each color is applied separately and hardened by firing at high temperatures. Successive layers of enamel give the ornaments depth, durability, and a distinctive, intense shine. Although applying enamel may look like delicate painting, it is an exceptionally complex technique. Combining enamel with engraving is a task requiring surgical precision and absolute focus. You can read more about the art of minakari and Indian crafts in the "Crafts of the World" section.
