Double-sided jewelry from the Minakari collection
The Minakari collection was born from a fascination with traditional Indian jewelry, which has been decorated on both sides for centuries. In Indian culture, this double-sidedness has a deeper meaning - the outer side is for the world, the inner side for the owner's heart. According to local philosophy, true beauty and value are "inside," which is why artisans take equal care to decorate the part of the jewelry that touches the skin and the part visible to the public. It's a sign of luxury and respect: the owner pays for something only they see, not the world. Our collection honors this tradition, but puts it in your hands. The jewelry pieces are meticulously crafted on each side, offering you a choice – you decide which side you want to wear closer to your heart, keeping it to yourself, and which side you want to turn outward, showing it off to the world.
Silver Bracelet with Pearls, Onyx, and Minakari Embellishments
The bracelet consists of a string, partly made of small pearls, partly of faceted black onyx, to which two hand-decorated silver charms are attached. The larger charm features a plant ornament crafted with mineral enamel on one side, while the other features precisely cut kundan glass, or Indian glass. The smaller charm is adorned with floral motifs on both sides. The charms are also embellished on the sides. The bracelet has an adjustable silver extension cord ending with a black flower charm, a different one on each side. In Indian symbolism, black represents what is undiscovered, the secret of existence - it is the color of depth, of what is intimate and hidden from the world.
How is minakari made?
Minakari is an ancient Persian technique of decorating metal with colored enamel, the name of which comes from the words "mina" (sky) and "kari" (work), which literally means "working in the color of the sky." The creation process is multi-stage: the metal surface is first engraved, then mineral glazes are applied and fired in a kiln at a high temperature. Each layer of color requires a separate firing, which is why minakari is a layered art - beneath the surface, you can see delicate color transitions that give the patterns depth and make the colors "live" in the light, changing depending on the viewing angle. You can read more about the designer's trip to India and the creation of minakari in the "Crafts of the World" section.
How to style jewelry from the Minakari collection?
Despite its richly decorated pendants, this pearl and onyx bracelet is subtle and elegant, making it perfect for everyday styling. It's comfortable to wear and adds a unique finishing touch to a classic look. You can wear it on its own or pair it with another bracelet from the Minakari collection—an onyx strand with a decorative clasp. Together, they create a cohesive, timeless set. Minakari jewelry also works well with pearl jewelry from the Perle collection—delicate earrings or a subtle round necklace. You can also pair the bracelet with a stunning black jade necklace from the Guatemala collection. A wide band with dark embellishments from the Minakari collection will complete the look.
