Crafts of the World - Minakari collection inspired by Indian crafts
For years, Anna Orska has traveled around the globe in search of unique, authentic craftsmanship techniques passed down through generations, which we can share with you. This time, she found herself in Rajasthan, India, where, in a small family workshop, she met local masters of the minakari technique, the ancient Persian art of decorating metal with colored enamel. Double-sided jewelry in India has symbolic meaning. The outer part is for the world, the inner part for the heart of the wearer. This philosophy became the foundation of the collection. The enameled elements for this collection were crafted in a friendly workshop in India, where each ornament is handcrafted with precision passed down through generations. From there, they were transferred to the ORSKA studio, where they were fashioned into decorative necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and rings. Anna Orska brought from India not only embellishments but also the idea that true beauty doesn't have to be for show. That's why the jewelry from the Minakari collection is reversible, allowing you to decide what to show off and what to keep private.
Gold-plated ring with green ornaments
The ring is made of gold-plated silver. In the center of the ring is a rectangular circle of kundan glass, a high-quality traditional Indian glass, set in a gold-plated crown. The surface of the delicate band is adorned with green ornaments hand-painted with a mineral glaze. Each line was precisely applied to the metal surface and fired in a kiln to permanently fuse with the metal. The green in the decorations symbolizes harmony and balance. It is the color of renewal and new beginnings. The ring is subtle in form, yet rich in embellishment. It can be worn alone as a delicate accent or combined with other rings from the collection to create personalized sets.
The Rajasthan-based artists engraved the ring's size inside, according to local sizing, which is not compatible with ours. The correct size is indicated on the product label.
How is minakari made?
Minakari is created in a multi-stage, handmade process that requires the precision and experience of the artisan. First, the design is engraved on the metal surface, which is then filled with mineral enamel. Each color is applied separately and set during high-temperature firing. With successive layers of enamel, the ornaments gain depth, durability, and a distinctive, intense shine. Although applying enamel may look like delicate painting, it is an exceptionally complex technique. Combining enamel with engraving is a task requiring surgical precision and absolute focus. You can read more about the art of minakari and Indian craftsmanship in the "Crafts of the World" section.
How to style subtle rings with rich embellishments?
The richly decorated rings from the Minakari collection can be worn in many ways, combining them into light, individual compositions. They look stunning worn in a cascade on a single finger or spread across several fingers, creating a mosaic of colors and patterns. The green ornaments on gold-plated silver harmonize beautifully with other rings in this collection – both the delicate ring adorned with black enamel and the wide band with a green and blue ornament. You can also pair them with rings from the Aurora collection, where they create a contrasting combination with raw tourmalines in pink, green, and blue hues. A delicate ring with green enamel complements necklaces and bracelets from the Minakari collection, creating a cohesive set full of symbolism. This is jewelry you can wear every day, play with color, combine contrasts, and create your own sets that never look the same, yet always attract attention.
